Bible Reading

5/8 Evening Bible Group

We started at around 8:33 pm, and we read 1 Kings chapter 21. The participants were Akari, Hiyori, Emiri, and Seiyu. Tomas joined about 5 minutes after we started. Akari learned that God is a forgiving God, as he forgave Ahab for what he did after he repented. She also added that God is also trying to do what’s best for you. Regarding her week, she shared that her final exam is next week and that next week is her last week of school. Hiyori shared that it’s important to take the right path in God’s sight and to remind herself to ask God about the right path. She also shared that she had a listening exam in her jazz history class and that she’s studying for her final exams. Tomas learned that Ahab was wrong to listen to his wife instead of asking God first.Tomas also added that he once gave his answers to an older friend and said that he should’ve asked God first about whether he should’ve given his answers. He also wants to ask God for guidance in high school. Emiri didn’t share anything. I learned that King Ahab could’ve built his own vineyard, as he had the power and money to do so as he was king. Instead, he decided to listen to his wife and kill Naboth. He should’ve asked Elijah or God first. I added that it’s important to ask God before making any decisions in life.

5/5 Morning Bible Reading

Time: 10:00-10:30am

Passage: 1 Kings 20

After reading, we were both a bit confused as to what happened in the story, so, we went back to analyze what happened. After doing so, we shared what we learned.

I learned that we should always follow through exactly what God tells us to do and not try to change things according to our understanding. I also brought up how I thought it kind of ties to what I learned from the service yesterday. Abraham did not believe that God would come through in giving him a child, so he tried to do it himself. As a result, Ishmael was born. However, God was unable to use Ishmael because he was created through fleshly efforts. In this sense, I learned that God is very strict about us following his ways. He wants us to trust him and do exactly as he tells us, even if we may not understand the situation.

Kanami shared about how she thought that it was interesting how God still chose to use Ahab, a bad king. From this, she understood that 1) God will/can use anyone and 2) God will always try to give everyone a chance to turn to him.

5/3 Evening Bible Reading

Today, we started reading the Bible at around 7:03, and the participants were Tomas, Akari, Hiyori, Emiri, and Seiyu. Timothy came 5 minutes after we started, and we read 1 Kings 19 and 20. Hiyori shared that although Elijah was left alone in chapter 19, God was with him and supported him. She then added that it’s vital to do things according to God’s will, even if it’s something you don’t want to do or feel like doing. She also shared that she went to pass out flyers at PCC. Akari learned that it’s important to do what you know is right and to point out things that aren’t right in God’s sight. She shared that for her computer science project, she was to find the shortest path to an airport using a graph.

Emiri learned that we should be more aware of the blessings God gives us and to always be thankful. She shared that she finished her hydroponic system and that she’s going to make a salad with her class next week. Tomas didn’t share anything. Timothy liked Elijah’s commitment to God, and he said that he also wants to have a heart committed to God, like Elisha. He didn’t have anything to share about his week. I learned that God always has your back, as long as you stay faithful to him and his commands. I also added that an example of staying faithful to God is by putting him first and by giving my all during Hoshi and guitar practices.
