エズラ記 6章

神の御心を行う時、反対を心配する必要はありません。神が必ず実現させてくださるからです。神は民を導き、どんな状況下でも神殿が完成するように、ダリウス王の勅令を見つけさせました。さらに、神殿を建てるべきかどうかという問題が民の間で起こることを神は知っていたに違いなく、ダリウスにそれを記録に残させました。また、民の心を変え、彼らが一つになり、共に祝うようにしました。この聖句は、神がどのように働くかを理解する助けとなり、自分の計算で結果を予測しようとしなくて済むようになりました。

カナも神がどのように働くかを学びました。彼女は、神が一人一人の心に働きかけ、神殿の完成に向けてそれぞれの役割を全うできるようにしてくださったことを分かち合いました。例えば、キュ​​ロス王の時代に、神は王を導き、神殿に関する勅令を出させました。前の章では、祭司たちが民を援助するためにやって来て、人々は神が共にいることを知り、勇気づけられました。その後、神はダレイオスに捜索命令を発するよう導き、布告書を発見しました。民全員が布告書を聞いた後、神は建物の建設に反対していた人々の心を変えました。同様に、彼女は神が私たち一人一人を通して働き、神の御心を成就するためにそれぞれの役割を果たす（例えば、新しい人々を連れてくるなど）と信じていることを伝えました。

Ezra 6

I learned about how when you are doing God’s will, you don’t have to worry about opposition because God will make sure it happens. He led the people to find King Darius’s decree so that the temple would be completed under all circumstances. Moreover, he must’ve known that these issues of whether the temple should be built would arise between the people, and thus had Darius write it on record. He also changed the hearts of the people so that they came to be united and ended up celebrating together. This passage helped me to see how God works and so, I don’t have to try to predict outcomes with my own calculations.

Kana also learned how God works. She shared how she could see that God worked in the hearts of each person so that they would complete their part in bringing about the completion of the temple. For example, during the time of King Cyrus, God guided the king to issue a decree concerning the temple. In the previous chapter, the priests came to give their support to the people which encouraged the people for they came to know that God was with them. Then, God guided Darius to issue a search order, leading to the finding of the decree. After all the people heard the decree, God changed the hearts of the those that opposed the building. In the same way, she shared that she believes that God works through each of us to do our part in completing his will (e.g. bringing newcomers, etc).

私は自分の信仰に従って行動することを学びました。以前は、いつも皆に好かれ、支持を得たいと思っていました。しかし、それは不可能だと理解するようになりました。敵対する人は必ずいるものです。さらに、神の御心を行うなら、サタンはどんな手段を使ってでも阻止しようとします。これらはすべて私の利己的な欲望から生じていることに気づきました。たとえ人々に誤解されても大丈夫だと学びました。これは今、神が私に教えようとしていることだと思います。神は正美さんを通して多くの真理を教えてくださり、私が自分自身で正しい決断を下せるようにしてくださるのです。

カナは先週の日曜日の礼拝で信仰について学んだことを、この物語と結びつけました。礼拝の中で、彼女は神は私たちのために特別な計画を持っておられることを学びました。その計画があなたの人生で成就すると信じ、その計画に向かって行動し続けるなら、あなたの信じた通りに計画は実現するでしょう。敵が王からの正式な指示をもって彼らに襲い掛かろうとしたにもかかわらず、彼らは信仰によってそれに対抗することができました。彼らは自分が正しいことをしていることを知っており、預言者たちの励ましと支えを通して、神が自分たちの味方であることを知っていました。

Ezra 4-5

I learned about learning to act according to my faith. In the past, I’ve always wanted to be on everyone’s good side and earn their support. However, I’ve come to understand that that is not possible. There will always be people who will come against you. In addition, if you are doing God’s will, then Satan will do anything to try to stop you. I’ve realized this all originates from my selfish desires. I’ve learned that it’s ok even if people misunderstand you. I believe this is something God is trying to teach me right now. He’s been teaching me many truths through Masami-san so that I can learn to make the right decisions on my own.

Kana tied what she learned about faith from the service last Sunday to the story. In the service, she learned that God has a specific plan for you. If you believe that that plan will be fulfilled in your life and continue act towards that plan, it will happen as you believe. Even though their enemies tried to come against them with official instructions from the king, these people were able to act against that because of their faith. They knew that they were doing the right thing and through the encouragement/support of the prophets, they knew that God was on their side.

My Prayer: For the guidance to be able to welcome Yohei-san’s co-worker to church, that he may experience God’s love through us, and that he may be saved.

2 Chronicles 35-36

Kanami was interested on why even the good kings end up going down the wrong path in the end. She stated that she learned from this to always focus on what God wants her to do and not let herself stray from that.

We both discussed this together, but I thought it may be because, after accomplishing so much, he (Josiah) began to think that he could determine what he was supposed to do, hence, why he ignored the God’s message from Necho telling him step back. I believe the reason for this might be either because in this case, God’s word was not entirely within Josiah’s heart, which was why he did not listen or his pride simply blinded his decision-making. I can see from here what the statement “humans are simply vessels” means. In addition, from ch. 36, I learned that the path you take really depends on you. No matter how hard the good kings tried to turn the people to God, I don’t remember reading that they ever completely changed. Therefore, I learn from here that this really depends on your personal relationship with God and your own decision of making the right decisions.

Our week:
Kana shared how her house church did a potluck, they all cooked something so there was a lot of food. They also all invited some people but the people they invited were unable to come. Therefore, they are planning to have the potluck some time again either this week or next week.

Yesterday, we were unable to hold the Bible reading because there was a misunderstanding about bringing the car to the dealership and I wasn’t aware that I was supposed to bring it. I also shared how I bought my ingredients for the food that I’m planning to make for the potluck.

歴代誌下 35-36章

カナミは、なぜ善良な王でさえ最終的に間違った道を選んでしまうのか、という点に興味を持っていました。彼女は、この出来事から、神が自分に何をしてほしいのかを常に意識し、そこから逸脱しないようにすることを学んだと述べました。

私たちは二人でこのことについて話し合いましたが、私は、ヨシヤが多くのことを成し遂げた後、自分が何をすべきかを自分で決められると思い込み、ネコから「一歩下がれ」という神のメッセージを無視したのではないかと考えました。この場合、ヨシヤの心に神の言葉が完全に届いていなかったため、耳を傾けなかったか、あるいは彼のプライドが判断を鈍らせたかのどちらかだと思います。ここから、「人間は単なる器に過ぎない」という言葉の意味が分かります。さらに、36章から、自分が進む道は実際には自分自身にかかっているということを学びました。善良な王たちが民を神に導こうとどれほど努力しても、彼らが完全に変わったという記述は読んだ記憶がありません。ですから、ここから私が学んだのは、これは本当に神との個人的な関係、そして正しい決断を下すというあなた自身の決断にかかっているということです。

今週の出来事：
カナは、彼女の家の教会でポットラックパーティーをしたときのことを共有しました。皆が料理をしたので、たくさんの食べ物がありました。皆が何人か人を招待しましたが、招待した人が来られなかったのです。そこで、今週か来週にもう一度ポットラックパーティーを開く予定です。

昨日は、ディーラーに車を持っていくことについて誤解があり、私が車を持っていくべきだと知らなかったため、聖書朗読会を行うことができませんでした。また、ポットラックパーティーで作る予定の料理の材料をどのように購入したかについても共有しました。

午後7時半から始まり、歴代誌下３３章と３４章を読みました。参加者はひより、えみり、あかり、せいゆでした。テモテとトマスは今日は参加しませんでした。

ひよりは、ヨシヤが神の前に謙遜であったこと、だからこそ前任者たちとは違って良い王であったことを学びました。彼女はジュニアグループとギターの練習をしたことを話しました。えみりは、ヨシヤ王が他の王たちと違って神に献身していたことを知りました。彼女は一日中宿題に取り組んだことを話しました。
あかりは、ヨシヤが神の言葉を真剣に受け止めたから救われたのだと学びました。今週の出来事として、彼女はニードルタティングというレース編みの技法を学んだことを話しました。私は、今日の章で見られたように、神の言葉には力があり、人の心を変える力があることを話しました。また、今日体育館でバスケットボールをしたことも話しました。

We started at 7:30 pm and read 2 Chronicles 33 and 34. The participants were Hiyori, Emiri, Akari, and Seiyu. Timothy and Tomas didn’t join today.

Hiyori learned that Josiah humbled himself before God, which is why he was a good king unlike his predecessors. She shared that she practiced guitar with the junior group. Emiri learned that King Josiah was different from the other kings because he devoted himself to God. She shared that she worked on her homework throughout the day.
Akari learned about the importance of taking God’s word seriously, as Josiah was saved because he took God’s word seriously. Regarding her week, she shared that she did needle tatting, which is a type of lace making technique. I shared that God’s word is powerful and has the ability to change people’s hearts, just as it did in today’s chapters. I also shared that I played basketball at the gym today.

えみりは、クリスチャンとして自分の信念に反する人々が必ず存在し、そのような人々に信念を変えるよう強制することはできないことを学びました。しかし、彼らのために祈ることはできるのです。彼女は、今週の授業で南北戦争について学んだことを話してくれました。
教会やキリスト教コミュニティに参加することは良いことだと学びました。それは、32章の人々のように、他の人を励ますことができるからです。私は日本語の授業で、韓国、インド、ベトナムの文化と日本の文化を比較対照するグループプレゼンテーションをしたことを話しました。

Hiyori learned that it is up to you what kind of words you choose to accept. She also learned about the importance of listening to your conscience. She shared that she practiced guitar every day and that she is studying for her final exams.
Akari learned about trusting God and that only God can solve your problems. She shared that most people rely on therapists to solve their problems, but they can never truly solve them. Regarding her week, she shared that she finished a semester-long group project.
Emiri learned that there will always be people who go against your beliefs as a Christian and that you can’t force those people to change their beliefs. However, you can pray for them. She shared that she learned about the Civil War in class this week.
I learned that it is a good thing to be in a church or Christian community because you get to encourage others, just like the people did in chapter 32. I shared that I had a group presentation in my Japanese class about comparing and contrasting Korean, Indian, and Vietnamese culture with Japanese culture.

11/9
2 Chronicles 32-33

I shared how I could apply what I had been learning from the recent sermons about confession. In the same way that King Hezekiah did not succumb to the threats of Senacherrib, I’m also learning to not easily let myself spew out negative words based on my circumstances. In addition, I also learned how it’s important who you choose to surround yourself with. Bc Hezekiah was positive and continued to encourage the people, they were able to stay united.

Kanami shared how she learned it’s important to not let the negative words of this world influence or sway her. Although she hears a lot at work, she has learned to keep her eyes fixed on God and keep his words in his heart.

I shared how I chose my classes for the next winter quarter

We prayed about the following Veteran’s day event, that each person in all the groups would have a great time.

2 Chronicles 34

Kanami shared how she learned to put God first, with her whole heart. This is what Josiah did. Even after he repented, he continued to try to turn the people to God. Normally, after hearing that destruction would not come in their time, most kings would most likely be satisfied and not care about what happens to the kingdom, as long as nothing happened to them. But Josiah always sought what God wanted him to do, that is what Kana admired. He took action, wholeheartedly. Therefore, Kana, in the same way, wants to put God first in her life more, instead of prioritizing herself. For example, instead of always thinking about work, she wants to do what God wants her to do such as helping others when she can (e.g. giving rides, etc)

I remember learning about v.14-18 either from Jun’s youth meetings or the sermons (probably both) about how Shaphan did not see the importance of the book of the law and therefore mentioned it last to the king. From here, I learn about what I prioritize. God has really been teaching me through Masami-san and Jun about how to put God first which has helped me to become more aware of the areas that I need to change.

Our Week:
Kanami shared how she was planning on holding a potluck for her house church next week.

Prayer:
I was at home that day so we prayed about what we’re thankful for, since thanksgiving is coming up.
Kana shared how she’s thankful for the job that God has given her this year and how she’s been able to manage through it.
I shared about how I’m thankful to God for saving my life through Masami-san and Jun and all the help and care they have given me to transform my life.

歴代誌下 32-33章

最近の説教で学んだ告白の実践について分かち合いました。ヒゼキヤ王がセナケリブの脅しに屈しなかったように、私も自分の状況に応じて否定的な言葉を口にしないよう学んでいます。さらに、誰と付き合うかがいかに大切かを学びました。ヒゼキヤが前向きで人々を励まし続けたおかげで、人々は団結を保つことができました。

カナミは、この世の否定的な言葉に影響されたり、揺さぶられたりしないことの大切さを学んだことを分かち合いました。仕事で多くのことを耳にしますが、神様に目を留め、神様の言葉を心に留めることを学んできました。

カナは、NBAバスケットボール選手に仕えた経験を分かち合いました。 😱
次の冬学期の授業の選び方についてシェアしました。

歴代誌下 34章

カナミは、心から神を第一にすることを学んだ経緯をシェアしました。ヨシヤ王はまさにこのことをしました。彼は悔い改めた後も、民を神に引き寄せようと努力し続けました。普通なら、滅亡は自分の時代には来ないと聞けば、ほとんどの王は満足し、自分に何も起こらなければ王国がどうなろうと気にしないでしょう。しかし、ヨシヤ王は常に神が自分に何をしてほしいのかを尋ね求めました。カナミはそれを尊敬していました。彼は心から行動を起こしたのです。ですから、カナも同じように、自分を優先するのではなく、人生においてもっと神を第一にしたいと思っています。例えば、いつも仕事のことばかり考えているのではなく、できる時に他の人を助ける（例えば、車で送迎するなど）など、神が彼女に望んでいることをしたいと思っています。

14-18節は、ジュンのユースミーティングか説教（おそらく両方）で学んだのを覚えています。シャファンが律法の書の重要性を理解していなかったため、最後に王に伝えたという話です。ここから、自分が何を優先すべきかを学びます。神様はマサミさんとジュンを通して、どのように神を第一にするかを本当に教えてくださり、自分が変わらなければならない点に気づくことができました。

今週の出来事：
カナミさんは、来週、家の教会で持ち寄りパーティーを開く計画について話してくれました。

祈り：
その日は私は家にいたので、感謝祭が近づいていたので、感謝していることについて祈りました。
カナさんは、神様が今年与えてくださった仕事にどれほど感謝しているか、そしてそれをどのようにやり遂げてきたかを話してくれました。
私は、まさみさんとジュンさんを通して私の人生を救ってくださった神様、そして私の人生を変えるために与えてくださったすべての助けと気遣いに感謝していることを話しました。

私たちは午後７時３０分から集まり、歴代誌下３０章と３１章を読みました。参加者はひより、あかり、えみり、そしてせいゆでした。テモテは技術週間のため参加できず、トマスはモールで映画を観ていると言っていたため参加できませんでした。

ひよりは、神に何かを捧げるときは、心を込めて行うべきだと学びました。また、献身的な心を持つことが大切だと話しました。今週クレープを作ったそうで、思ったほど難しくなかったと話してくれました。
えみりは、神はクリスチャンが外に出て神の言葉を伝えることを期待していると学びました。また、自分の祝福ばかりではなく、他人のことも考えるべきだと学びました。今週コーディングの課題を終えたと話してくれました。
あかりは、物事を喜んで行うことが大切であり、正しい心構えが重要だと学びました。彼女は、様々な言語を比較するプロジェクトに取り組んだと話してくれました。
私は、与える心を持つこと、そして持っているものをいつでも喜んで他人に分かち合うことが良いことだと学びました。その後、明日の礼拝、キッズクラブ、その他のことのために祈りました。そして、数分間異言で祈りました。

We started at 7:30 p.m. and read 2 Chronicles 30 and 31. The participants were Hiyori, Akari, Emiri, and Seiyu. Timothy couldn’t join due to tech week, and Tomas couldn’t join because he said he was watching a movie at the mall.

Hiyori learned that whenever you dedicate something to God, you should do it wholeheartedly. She also said that having a heart of dedication is important. She shared that she made crepes this week and that it wasn’t as hard as she thought it would be.
Emiri learned that God expects Christians to go out and spread His word. She also learned that you shouldn’t always think about your own blessings but also think about others. She shared that she finished a coding assignment this week.
Akari learned that doing things willingly is important and that having the right heart matters. She shared that she worked on a project where she had to compare different languages.
I learned that it is good to have a giving heart and to always be willing to share what you have with others. Afterward, we prayed for tomorrow’s service, Kids Club, and other things. Then, we prayed in tongues for a few minutes.

私たちは午後７時３０分から聖書朗読を始めました。参加者はひより、えみり、あかり、せいや、そしてトーマスでした。

あかりは、イスラエル王国全体が共に神を礼拝したように、神は全世界の人々が神を礼拝することを望んでいると学びました。彼女は、学校のプロジェクトで忙しいと話してくれました。
トーマスは今日の章について特に話すことはありませんでした。夕食にCluck2Goというお店で食事をしたことと、ティモシーの舞台を観に行く予定だと話してくれました。
私は、悔い改めは心の変化から始まることを学びました。例えば、人を許したくない心から、人を許す心へと変わることです。私は家で「ゴジラ-1.0」という映画を観たと話しました。いい映画でした。

We started reading at 7:30 p.m., and the participants were Hiyori, Emiri, Akari, Seiyu, and Tomas. We read 2 Chronicles 29. Timothy couldn’t join because he has tech week, which is a preparation period for an upcoming stagecraft show.

Hiyori learned that you have to purify your heart before dedicating your time to God through activities like Hoshi and Kids Club. Regarding her week, she shared that she is preparing for her final exams as her semester is almost over.
Emiri learned that having a willing heart is important, especially when dedicating things to God. On Wednesday, she shared that she went on a field trip to Caltech. She said the food there was good and that she watched a drone simulation.
Akari learned that God wants the whole world to worship Him, just as the entire kingdom of Israel worshiped together. She shared that she is busy with multiple school projects.
Tomas didn’t have anything to share about today’s chapter. He shared that he ate at a place called Cluck2Go for dinner today and that he plans to watch Timothy’s play.
I learned that repentance starts with changing your heart—for example, changing from a heart that doesn’t want to forgive to a heart that forgives others. I shared that I watched a movie called Godzilla Minus One at home. It was a good movie.

11/3
2 Chronicles 29-30:

Kanami shared how she felt that Hezekiah did a really good job in uniting the people to turn to God, at least while he was king. She related this to what she learned yesterday during the sermon and stated that she felt that the people did repent truly (again, that is while Hezekiah was king), which is why they were able to come together and work towards the celebration of the Passover. She also pointed out that everything worked well for because the people followed God’s word. (ch.30:12)

I learned about knowing God’s will and being a leader. I believe that the reason that Hezekiah was able to persuade the people, unlike the other kings, was because he knew what God’s will was and followed what God said. I’ve come to understand more recently, that just because something is good, does not mean that it is God’s will. Therefore, I want to come to be able to understand what God’s will is in any situation. I also learned that only God can change people. Having been able to experience what it’s like being a leader in the church, I’ve realized I have a tendency of trying to do everything myself. I unintentionally put the load on myself and feel like I have to do everything to unite the people. This has led to a lot of fleshly effort in the past. I’m learning more and more to not try to do everything myself and instead, ask God what I should do in a given situation.

Our Weeks:
Kana shared yesterday during the youth meeting how she served Steven Spielberg at her restaurant. 🤯 I asked her more about it today: whether she got to talk to him (not really, but she did overhear what he was talking about, apparently he’s been trying to learn a little Japanese 🙂)

I shared about how I had a good time helping Hideko-san move with the church, and how I went too far in the beginning. I realize I tend to mistakingly go to the wrong places a lot. 🙃 I also shared how I watched a movie called “Mickey 17.”

Prayer:
In the end, we decided to pray for Timothy and his girlfriend: that his girlfriend will be saved and be freed from all her problems and that she will have a healthy relationship with Timothy in Christ.

Then we prayed in tongues for about 3 min.

11/4
2 Chronicles 31:

I shared how the last 2 verses stood out to me. From them, I learned about committing myself wholeheartedly to God as it’s something I learned from a recent sermon this year and have been learning to do from Masami-san and Jun. Before, my mindset was always geared toward prioritizing my own needs, like school, however, ever since Masami-san and Jun began helping me this year, I’ve been learning to commit myself towards God. I’ve realized that this is the true path towards peace bc I now have the faith that God will take care of me so I don’t have to worry about my own needs, instead, I should focus on what God wants me to do. Another truth I’ve also been learning from Masami-san is to not be けち。Reading about how all the people contributed what they had to help Hezekiah, reminded me of this. I have experienced how protected and taken-care of I am in God’s hands and therefore, I have come to have a stronger faith that God will always provide for me in abundance. I do not want to be someone who is always worrying about needs running out. Thus, with this faith, I want to learn to give abundantly no matter how my physical circumstance may look.

Kanami also shared that she learned about committing herself to God. She learned from the example of the people that bc they were committed to God, they wanted to contribute and give what they could to help Hezekiah. While I was talking about entrusting myself to God, Kanami shared about how she too realized that this path helps her to think and speak more positively as she knows that God is always with her and will take care of her.

Our Weeks
Kana shared that she took her car to maintenance yesterday to get it checked up.
I discussed how I had been studying for my test which I will be taking later today.

We then talked a bit about the Dodgers winning the World Series.

*We did not pray today bc I was at school (I asked Masami-san about this and she said I shouldn’t pray in tongues when I’m at school)

私は神の御心を知ること、そしてリーダーシップについて学びました。ヒゼキヤ王が他の王たちとは異なり、人々を説得できたのは、彼が神の御心を知り、神の言葉に従ったからだと信じています。最近になって、良いことだからといって必ずしも神の御心であるとは限らないということをより深く理解するようになりました。ですから、どんな状況でも神の御心を知ることができるようになりたいと思っています。また、人を変えることができるのは神だけだということも学びました。教会でリーダーとして奉仕する経験を通して、私は何でも自分でやろうとしてしまう傾向があることに気づきました。無意識のうちに自分で重荷を背負い込み、人々を一つにするためにはすべて自分でやらなければならないと感じてしまうのです。これは過去に多くの肉的な努力につながってきました。今は、すべてを自分でやろうとするのではなく、与えられた状況で何をすべきかを神に尋ねることをますます学んでいます。

今週の出来事：
カナは昨日の青年会で、自分の働いているレストランでスティーブン・スピルバーグにサービスをした時のことを話してくれました。🤯 今日、彼女に詳しく聞いてみました。彼と話す機会はあったのかと尋ねたところ、（直接話すことはなかったけれど、彼が話している内容を耳にしたそうで、どうやら彼は少し日本語を勉強しようとしているらしいです🙂）

私は、教会の人たちと一緒にヒデコさんの引っ越しを手伝った時のこと、そして最初は少しやりすぎてしまったことを話しました。私はよく間違った場所に行ってしまう傾向があることに気づきました。🙃 また、「ミッキー17」という映画を観たことも話しました。祈り：
最後に、私たちはティモシーと彼のガールフレンドのために祈ることにしました。ガールフレンドが救われ、すべての問題から解放され、キリストにあってティモシーと健全な関係を築けるようにと祈りました。
私たちはマタイによる福音書11章28節の御言葉に立ちました。

11月4日
歴代誌第二 31章：

私は、最後の2節が特に心に響いたことを分かち合いました。そこから、神に心から献身することについて学びました。これは、今年受けた説教から学び、まさみさんとジュンさんからも教わってきたことです。以前は、学校のことなど、自分のニーズを優先することばかり考えていましたが、今年まさみさんとジュンさんが助けてくれるようになってから、神に献身することを学ぶようになりました。これが真の平和への道だと気づきました。神が私を守ってくださると信じているので、自分のニーズについて心配する必要はなく、代わりに神が私に望んでおられることに集中すべきだと考えるようになったからです。まさみさんから学んだもう一つの真理は、「けち」にならないことです。人々がヒゼキヤを助けるために持っているものをすべて捧げたという箇所を読んで、このことを改めて思い出しました。私は神の御手の中でどれほど守られ、大切にされているかを経験してきたので、神はいつも私に豊かに与えてくださるとの信仰が強くなりました。私は、必要なものが尽きてしまうことをいつも心配しているような人間になりたくありません。ですから、この信仰をもって、自分の置かれている状況がどうであれ、惜しみなく与えることを学びたいと思っています。

かなみも、神に献身することについて学んだことを分かち合いました。彼女は、人々が神に献身していたからこそ、ヒゼキヤを助けるためにできる限りのものを捧げようとしたという例から学びました。私が神に自分自身を委ねることについて話している時、かなみは、この道こそが、神がいつも自分と共にいて守ってくださると知っているので、より前向きに考え、話すことができるようになる道だと気づいたと話してくれました。

今週のこと
かなは、昨日車を点検に出したことを話しました。
私は、今日これから受ける試験のために勉強していたことを話しました。その後、ドジャースがワールドシリーズで優勝したことについて少し話しました。

*今日は学校にいたので祈りませんでした（このことについてマサミさんに尋ねたところ、学校では異言で祈るべきではないと言われました）。

今日は歴代誌の２７章と２８章を読みました。午後７時３０分から始まりました。参加者はエミリ、ヒヨリ、アカリ、ティモシー、トーマス、そしてセイヤでした。

エミリは、人が何かで成功したときに、それを真似するのは良くないことを学びました。彼女は今週のことについて、木曜日に高校のキャンパスの飾り付けを手伝ったこと、そして飾り付けは車をテーマにしたものだったことを話してくれました。ティモシーは、何事においても謙遜であること、そして神に信頼することの大切さを学びました。彼は今週のことについて、賭けに負けたのでハロウィンの仮装をしなければならなかったことを話してくれました。トーマスは、高校生活で他人に影響されず、神の道を歩み続けることの大切さを学びました。

We read 2 Chronicles 27 & 28 today and we started at 7:30 p.m. The participants were Emiri, Hiyori, Akari, Timothy, Tomas, and Seiyu.

Emiri learned that it is not good to copy other people when they succeed in something. Regarding her week, she shared that on Thursday she helped decorate her high school campus, and the decorations were car-themed. Timothy learned about the importance of being humble and trusting in God in everything you do. Regarding his week, he shared that he had to dress up for Halloween because he lost a bet. Tomas learned not to be influenced by others in high school and to stay on God’s path. Hiyori learned that humans easily fall into Satan’s trap if they don’t seek help from God when they face problems. Akari learned that God is the one who makes judgments and that it isn’t our job to punish or judge others. I learned that consistency is important, as Jotham reigned faithfully for sixteen years under God’s guidance. Afterward, we prayed for tomorrow, for Timothy’s girlfriend, and for Luka’s birthday. Then, we prayed in tongues for several minutes.

We read 2 Chronicles 26. Hiyori learned from verse 16 that humans easily become prideful when they succeed in something. She shared that she studied for her classes this week. Akari learned that the reign of humans doesn’t go well most of the time because people become selfish and prideful. She also added that asking God for guidance is key. She mentioned that one of her group partners was from the same freshman orientation she attended. Tomas shared about his week and mentioned that he started helping at his music teacher’s school today. Emiri learned that most of the kings were prideful, which led to their downfalls. She added that it is important to put yourself under God and not above Him. She shared that on Monday, she practiced with her tennis friends. I learned not to let my emotions dictate my actions as King Uzziah’s emotions led to his decision to not listen to God.

We read 2 Chronicles chapters 24 and 25. Akari was reminded from chapter 24, verse 9, that everything in the world belongs to God. She said that she didn’t truly know this truth until today. She shared that she built Minori and Juri’s bunk bed and that she enjoys building furniture. Hiyori learned from chapter 25, verse 2, about the importance of following God wholeheartedly. She also learned that actions are just as important as having the right heart. She shared that she practiced playing the guitar this week. Emiri learned from chapter 25, verse 20, that once God abandons you, bad things will begin to happen. She learned the importance of taking God’s word seriously and learning from mistakes. She shared that she learned about the law of osmosis in her biology class. Tomas didn’t have anything to share from today’s chapters. He shared that he went to Disneyland for his orchestra class and that they practiced playing songs from Disney movies such as Up. I learned about the importance of not being self complacent and being humble as pride led to King Amaziah’s downfall. I shared that I watched the new Chainsaw Man movie with my mom and sister.

Timothy said that he has something to do. We read 2 Chronicles 23. Akari was reminded of the importance of service and worshipping with the right heart on Sundays. She shared that she is currently working on a group project related to computer science and that she likes her group. Emiri learned that when doing God’s will, God will grant you the necessary skills and traits to carry out your tasks. She also shared that Akari helped her make crochet tennis balls for her tennis team’s senior night. Hiyori learned that each of us has our own purpose given by God, and that it is important to fulfill that purpose wholeheartedly. Regarding her week, she shared that she spent the majority of her day cleaning her room. I learned that there will be people in your life who will try to hinder God’s plan for you, just as Athaliah tried to destroy David’s line. In those moments, I learned that it is important to speak out with boldness and have God’s word in your heart so that you know the right things to say.

2 Chronicles 23 -24

Kana shared how she learned about how she should be careful of what type of words she allows to enter her as it will determine what kind of life she will live. Joash chose to listen to the words of the officials which led him to making the wrong decisions and living a sinful life. In her workplace, she often hears a lot of worldly/negative words, however, she does her best not to accept the words that she hears and, according to the situation, she wants to instead replace those negative words with God’s words.

I learned about how all humans are vessels. From recent sermons, I’ve been learning how powerful our mouths are and yesterday, while talking with Masami-san on the phone, she taught me something very important. She was telling me about how when we die, we will take nothing with us (nothing in terms of no material possessions such as money). So what’s left of us? Our mouths. Therefore, the words we choose to speak and accept will determine what kind of person we are. In Joash’s case, he had been receiving God’s words from the guidance of Jehoiada, however, after Jehoiada died, the officials replaced his position. From then on, they filled Joash’s mind with worldly words turning him bad. This also showed me that Joash ultimately did not have God’s words within him, because if so, then he would have known what words to accept. Therefore, I want to have God’s words in my heart so that I know which words to choose/not to choose.

Our Weeks:

I shared how the test I mentioned about last week went well. Although, I haven’t received results yet, I’m confident it went well and for that I’m thankful. I also had another one today. I wasn’t able to study too much for that one but I have faith it went well. I also talked about how I had fun on Saturday helping the Narikawa’s move. I then shared how I planned to practice the guitar with Seiyu and Hiyori tonight.

Kana shared how the weather gave her a hard time this week as it rained unexpectedly and she was not prepared for it.

2 Chronicles 25

Kana shared how she learned from v.8 about how God trains you sometimes by allowing you to fall or go through difficult moments. She has experienced something similar to this while she was beginning to work, she felt overwhelmed and stressed. However, she understands now that it is always for the better so that she can become stronger, which she did.

I was reminded of how God does not like half-heartedness, you are either in or out. I have come to understand this better with an analogy that came to mind. Say you have a group of 4 friends: 2 of which are always loyal to you and always have your back, the other 2 are your friends but, not really. I will always entrust myself to the 2 that have always been loyal. Moreover, from v.9, I interpreted that the reason why Amaziah was half-hearted was because he did not trust God completely. In other words, he felt that his needs would not be met if HE did not do something about it. Therefore, I learned that people who commit themselves to God are people who know God. And since they spend time with God, they become like him. I believe that God has been changing me and helping me to commit myself fully to him. This has involved giving up certain things. Though, at the moment, it feels like a lot (it’s really not), I know that God has something way better in store for me.

カナさんは、どんな言葉を受け入れるかによって、どんな人生を送るかが決まるので、注意すべきだと学んだことを共有してくれました。ヨアシュは役人たちの言葉に耳を傾け、間違った決断をして罪深い人生を送ってしまいました。職場では、世俗的で否定的な言葉をよく耳にしますが、カナさんは耳にする言葉をなるべく受け入れないようにし、状況に応じて、それらの否定的な言葉を神の言葉に置き換えるようにしています。

私は、すべての人間が器であることを学びました。最近の説教で、口の力強さを学んでおり、昨日、電話でマサミさんと話しているときに、とても大切なことを教えていただきました。彼女は、私たちは死ぬとき、何も持っていかない（お金のような物質的な財産は何も持っていかない）と教えてくれました。では、私たちに何が残るのでしょうか？それは、私たちの口です。ですから、私たちがどのような言葉を話し、受け入れるかによって、私たちがどのような人間になるかが決まります。ヨアシュの場合、彼はエホヤダの導きによって神の言葉を受け取っていましたが、エホヤダが亡くなると、役人たちが彼の地位を奪いました。それ以来、彼らはヨアシュの心を世俗的な言葉で満たし、彼を邪悪なものにしました。これはまた、ヨアシュが最終的に神の言葉を心に持っていなかったことを私に示しています。もし持っていたなら、彼はどの言葉を受け入れるべきかを知っていたはずです。ですから、私はどの言葉を選び、どの言葉を選ばないかを知るために、神の言葉を心に留めておきたいのです。

私たちの今週：

先週お話ししたテストがうまくいったことを共有しました。まだ結果は出ていませんが、うまくいったと確信しており、感謝しています。今日もテストがありました。あまり勉強できませんでしたが、うまくいったと信じています。また、土曜日に成川家の引っ越しを手伝ったのが楽しかったことも話しました。それから、今夜セイユウとヒヨリとギターの練習をする予定について話しました。

カナは、今週は予期せぬ雨で、予期せぬ天候に見舞われたと話してくれました。

歴代誌下 25章

カナは、8節から、神は時に失敗や困難な時期を経験させることで、人を訓練してくださることを学んだと話してくれました。彼女は仕事を始めた頃、同じような経験をしました。圧倒され、ストレスを感じたそうです。しかし、今では、それは必ず良い方向へ向かい、より強くなるためのものだと理解し、実際にそうなりました。

私は、神は中途半端なことを好まないということを思い出しました。あなたは中途半端な人間か、それとも中途半端な人間かのどちらかです。頭に浮かんだ例えで、このことをより深く理解することができました。例えば、4人の友達がいるとします。そのうち2人はいつもあなたに忠実で、いつもあなたを支えてくれます。残りの2人は友達ではありますが、本当の友達ではありません。いつも忠実だった二人に、私はこれからも身を委ねます。さらに、9節から、アマツヤが中途半端だったのは、神を完全に信頼していなかったからだと解釈しました。つまり、神が何かをしない限り、自分の必要は満たされないと感じていたのです。ですから、神に身を委ねる人は神を知っている人だと学びました。そして、神と共に時間を過ごすことで、彼らは神のようになるのです。神は私を変え、私が神に完全に身を委ねられるよう助けてくださっていると信じています。そのためには、いくつかのものを手放す必要がありました。今は、多くのことを諦めなければならないように感じますが（実際はそうではありません）、神は私のためにもっと素晴らしいものを用意してくださっていると確信しています。

今週の出来事：
昨夜、セイユウとヒヨリとギターの練習の様子をシェアしました。

カナは特にシェアすることはありませんでした。

午後７時半にスタートし、ティモシー、トーマス、セイユウの3名が参加しました。歴代誌第二２１章と２２章を読みました。

ティモシーは遅れて参加し、22章を一緒に読むことができました。ひより、あかり、えみりは忙しかったため参加できませんでした。ティモシーは、２１章と２２章で王たちに災いが起こったのは、アハブの娘の悪い影響によるものだと学びました。このことから、世間や周りの人々に左右されてはいけないことを学びました。また、善悪を見極めるためには、神の言葉を心に深く刻むことが大切だと学びました。彼は、平日に友達とサンタアニタモールに行き、カップラーメンと消しゴムを買ったことを話しました。トーマスは、神様に導きを求めることの大切さと、神様にお願いすれば助けてくれることを学びました。彼は金曜日にオーケストラのコンサートがあることも話しました。人々がどう思おうと、正しいことをすることを恐れてはいけないということを学びました。アハズヤの妹は正しいことをすることを恐れなかったので、ヨアシュをアタリヤから隠しました。

We started at 7:30 pm, and the participants were Timothy, Tomas, and Seiyu. We read 2 Chronicles chapter 21 and 22.

Timothy joined later and was able to read chapter 22 with us. Hiyori, Akari, and Emiri weren’t able to join, as they’re busy. Timothy learned that the reason bad things happened to the kings in chapters 21 and 22 was due to the bad influence of Ahab’s daughter. From this, he learned that you shouldn’t be influenced by the world and those around you. He also learned that it is important to have God’s word ingrained in your heart to discern what’s right and wrong. He shared that he went to the Santa Anita Mall with his friend during the week, and he bought cup ramen and erasers. Tomas learned about the importance of asking God for guidance and that he’ll help you if you ask him. He shared that he had an orchestra concert on Friday. I learned that you shouldn’t be afraid to do the right things despite what people may think of you. Ahaziah’s sister hid Joash from Athaliah as she wasn’t afraid to do the right thing.
