ネヘミヤ記2章

カナは、ネヘミヤが王に願い事をすることに最初は恐れを感じていたものの、神が彼と共にいて導いてくださっていることを感じ、信仰によって大胆に話すことができた、と分かち合いました。

私は、最後の2節（19節、20節）が特に心に残ったと話しました。ネヘミヤのように強く、大胆な信仰を持ちたいと思っています。そうすれば、正しいことに対してしっかりと立ち、サタンが私を攻撃するために使うあらゆる状況に惑わされることなく、揺るぎない信仰を持つことができるからです。最近の説教で、神に何かを求めると、たいてい逆のことが起こるということを学びました。しかし、私が神に何かを求めた瞬間、それは天の法廷で議論され、実行に移されているのです。このプロセスを継続させるのは私の信仰です。待っている間も信じ続けなければなりません。この待っている期間は、私の信仰を強くするための訓練になると信じています。それは、神を信頼することだけでなく、正しいことに対してしっかりと立つことにも役立つでしょう。

今週の出来事：
昨日父と観に行った映画がとても楽しかったと話しました。

祈り：
来るクリスマス・イブの賛美イベントについて祈りました。神が私たちと共にいてくださり、イベントを通して喜びと一致を与えてくださることに感謝し、何よりも、私たちの賛美を通して神の力が聴いている人々に届くように祈りました（これは先週土曜日のギター練習でまさみさんが教えてくれたことです）。

Nehemiah 2

Kana shared how she could see that God was with Nehemiah and was guiding him as he was first afraid to request what he wanted to the king, but his faith gave him the boldness to speak up.

I shared how the last 2 verses (v.19-20) stood out to me. I would like to come to have strong, bolder faith like Nehemiah so that I can stand firm on what is right and not be swayed by any sort of circumstances Satan may use to try to attack me. I’ve learned from recent sermons that when I ask God for something, the opposite usually happens. However, the moment I ask God for something, it is being discussed in the heavenly court and set in motion. What keeps this process going is my faith; I must continue to believe during the waiting period. I believe that these waiting periods will train my faith to become stronger which will help me not just in trusting God but also in standing firm on what is right.

Our Week:
I shared that I enjoyed the movie I went to see with my dad yesterday.

Prayer:
I prayed about the upcoming Christmas Eve Praise event. It was a prayer of thanksgiving to God that he is with us and will give us joy and unity during the event, and most importantly, that his power will flow through our praise to the people listening (something Masami-san taught us last Saturday during the guitar practice)

Ezra 10 & Nehemiah 1

Our Week
I asked Kana about how her job has been going. I asked her a lot of questions about what exactly she does as I was interested in learning what she does everyday at her workplace.

I shared how my quarter ended and now I’m on vacation. I also shared how I was going to go watch the new Jujutsu Kaisen movie later that evening with my dad.

Prayer:
Kana wanted to pray for safe travel to the camp for all the people who were going.

私たちは午後7時30分に読書会を始め、エズラ記の9章と10章を読みました。参加者はひより、あかり、えみり、そしてせいやでした。ティモシーは携帯電話の通知がサイレントモードになっていたため、読書会が終わってから参加しました。トーマスは今日は参加しませんでした。

ひよりは、星占いのようなことをする時にも真剣さが必要だと学びました。彼女は今週ギターの練習をしたと話していました。

We started reading at 7:30 p.m., and we read Ezra chapters 9 and 10. The participants were Hiyori, Akari, Emiri, and Seiyu. Timothy joined after we finished reading because his phone notifications were on silent. Tomas didn’t join today.

Hiyori learned that there must be a level of seriousness when doing things such as hoshi. She shared that she practiced guitar this week.
Akari shared that it was a good thing that the people repented in today’s chapters. Emiri didn’t have anything to share about today’s chapters, and she shared that she practiced the song “Jesus Put the Song in My Heart” this morning. I learned not to compromise with others and to be yourself wherever you go, whether it be at school, church, or elsewhere.

今日はエズラ記8章を読みました。参加者はひより、あかり、えみり、ティモシー、そしてせいゆでした。トマスは今日コンサートがあったため参加できませんでした。

ひよりは、人々が神が自分たちを守ってくださると強く信じていたからこそ、神が彼らを助け、守ることができたのだと学びました。また、今週期末試験が終わったので、学期が終わって嬉しいと話していました。

あかりは、神は決して変わらないこと、そして問題に直面したときは神に頼るべきだと学びました。彼女も試験が終わったこと、そして今学期はいくつかのプロジェクトに取り組んだことを話していました。

えみりは、喜んで与えることの大切さを学びました。また、論述エッセイを書き終え、Duolingoでイタリア語を勉強したことを話していました。

ティモシーは21節から、謙遜であること、そして日常生活の中で神が必要であることを認識することの大切さを学びました。彼は今日スペイン語の期末試験が終わったと話していました。

私は、真の答えを与えてくださるのは神だけなので、私たちは神にだけ頼ることができると学びました。また、今週が秋学期の最終週だったことを話しました。

Today we read Ezra 8, and the participants were Hiyori, Akari, Emiri, Timothy, and Seiyu. Tomas couldn’t join because he had a concert today.

Hiyori learned that the people had strong faith that God would protect them, which is why God was able to help and protect them. She also shared that she finished her final exams this week and is glad the semester is over.

Akari learned that God never changes and that we should turn to Him when we face problems. She also shared that she finished her exams and worked on several projects this semester.

Emiri learned about the importance of giving willingly. She also shared that she finished an argumentative essay and studied Italian on Duolingo.

Timothy learned from verse 21 about the importance of being humble and recognizing that he needs God in his daily life. He shared that he finished his Spanish final today.

I learned that we can depend only on God, as He alone can give us true answers. I also shared that this week was my last week of the fall semester.

午後7時30分に集まり、エズラ記5章と6章を読みました。ティモシー以外は全員参加しました。

えみりは、神がすべてを支配しておられるとき、物事は円滑に進むことを学びました。また、神の御心に従うとき、神は御心を行うために必要なすべてを与えてくださるということも話しました。月曜日に友達とテニスをしたことも話してくれました。

トーマスは今日の章について特に話すことはありませんでしたが、今日歯医者に行ったことを話してくれました。

私は、神がそばにいてくださる限り、人生のどんな困難にも耐えることができるということを学びました。その後、明日の出来事のために祈り、数分間異言で祈りました。

We started at 7:30 p.m. and read Ezra chapters 5 and 6. Everyone participated except for Timothy.

Hiyori shared that the phrase “done with diligence” appeared repeatedly, and from that she learned the value of doing things wholeheartedly. She also shared about today’s guitar practice and how they practiced the song, Where Does My Help Come From.

Akari learned that God accomplishes his plans no matter what, and that he uses people to help carry them out. She didn’t have anything to share about her week.

Emiri learned that things go smoothly when God is in control. She also shared that when you follow God’s will, he provides everything you need to carry out his will. She mentioned that she practiced tennis on Monday with her friends.

Tomas didn’t have anything to share about today’s chapters, but he did share that he went to the dentist today.

I learned that anyone can endure anything in life as long as God is by their side. Afterward, we prayed for tomorrow’s events and spent a few minutes praying in tongues.

エズラ記 6章

神の御心を行う時、反対を心配する必要はありません。神が必ず実現させてくださるからです。神は民を導き、どんな状況下でも神殿が完成するように、ダリウス王の勅令を見つけさせました。さらに、神殿を建てるべきかどうかという問題が民の間で起こることを神は知っていたに違いなく、ダリウスにそれを記録に残させました。また、民の心を変え、彼らが一つになり、共に祝うようにしました。この聖句は、神がどのように働くかを理解する助けとなり、自分の計算で結果を予測しようとしなくて済むようになりました。

カナも神がどのように働くかを学びました。彼女は、神が一人一人の心に働きかけ、神殿の完成に向けてそれぞれの役割を全うできるようにしてくださったことを分かち合いました。例えば、キュ​​ロス王の時代に、神は王を導き、神殿に関する勅令を出させました。前の章では、祭司たちが民を援助するためにやって来て、人々は神が共にいることを知り、勇気づけられました。その後、神はダレイオスに捜索命令を発するよう導き、布告書を発見しました。民全員が布告書を聞いた後、神は建物の建設に反対していた人々の心を変えました。同様に、彼女は神が私たち一人一人を通して働き、神の御心を成就するためにそれぞれの役割を果たす（例えば、新しい人々を連れてくるなど）と信じていることを伝えました。

Ezra 6

I learned about how when you are doing God’s will, you don’t have to worry about opposition because God will make sure it happens. He led the people to find King Darius’s decree so that the temple would be completed under all circumstances. Moreover, he must’ve known that these issues of whether the temple should be built would arise between the people, and thus had Darius write it on record. He also changed the hearts of the people so that they came to be united and ended up celebrating together. This passage helped me to see how God works and so, I don’t have to try to predict outcomes with my own calculations.

Kana also learned how God works. She shared how she could see that God worked in the hearts of each person so that they would complete their part in bringing about the completion of the temple. For example, during the time of King Cyrus, God guided the king to issue a decree concerning the temple. In the previous chapter, the priests came to give their support to the people which encouraged the people for they came to know that God was with them. Then, God guided Darius to issue a search order, leading to the finding of the decree. After all the people heard the decree, God changed the hearts of the those that opposed the building. In the same way, she shared that she believes that God works through each of us to do our part in completing his will (e.g. bringing newcomers, etc).

私は自分の信仰に従って行動することを学びました。以前は、いつも皆に好かれ、支持を得たいと思っていました。しかし、それは不可能だと理解するようになりました。敵対する人は必ずいるものです。さらに、神の御心を行うなら、サタンはどんな手段を使ってでも阻止しようとします。これらはすべて私の利己的な欲望から生じていることに気づきました。たとえ人々に誤解されても大丈夫だと学びました。これは今、神が私に教えようとしていることだと思います。神は正美さんを通して多くの真理を教えてくださり、私が自分自身で正しい決断を下せるようにしてくださるのです。

カナは先週の日曜日の礼拝で信仰について学んだことを、この物語と結びつけました。礼拝の中で、彼女は神は私たちのために特別な計画を持っておられることを学びました。その計画があなたの人生で成就すると信じ、その計画に向かって行動し続けるなら、あなたの信じた通りに計画は実現するでしょう。敵が王からの正式な指示をもって彼らに襲い掛かろうとしたにもかかわらず、彼らは信仰によってそれに対抗することができました。彼らは自分が正しいことをしていることを知っており、預言者たちの励ましと支えを通して、神が自分たちの味方であることを知っていました。

Ezra 4-5

I learned about learning to act according to my faith. In the past, I’ve always wanted to be on everyone’s good side and earn their support. However, I’ve come to understand that that is not possible. There will always be people who will come against you. In addition, if you are doing God’s will, then Satan will do anything to try to stop you. I’ve realized this all originates from my selfish desires. I’ve learned that it’s ok even if people misunderstand you. I believe this is something God is trying to teach me right now. He’s been teaching me many truths through Masami-san so that I can learn to make the right decisions on my own.

Kana tied what she learned about faith from the service last Sunday to the story. In the service, she learned that God has a specific plan for you. If you believe that that plan will be fulfilled in your life and continue act towards that plan, it will happen as you believe. Even though their enemies tried to come against them with official instructions from the king, these people were able to act against that because of their faith. They knew that they were doing the right thing and through the encouragement/support of the prophets, they knew that God was on their side.

My Prayer: For the guidance to be able to welcome Yohei-san’s co-worker to church, that he may experience God’s love through us, and that he may be saved.

2 Chronicles 35-36

Kanami was interested on why even the good kings end up going down the wrong path in the end. She stated that she learned from this to always focus on what God wants her to do and not let herself stray from that.

We both discussed this together, but I thought it may be because, after accomplishing so much, he (Josiah) began to think that he could determine what he was supposed to do, hence, why he ignored the God’s message from Necho telling him step back. I believe the reason for this might be either because in this case, God’s word was not entirely within Josiah’s heart, which was why he did not listen or his pride simply blinded his decision-making. I can see from here what the statement “humans are simply vessels” means. In addition, from ch. 36, I learned that the path you take really depends on you. No matter how hard the good kings tried to turn the people to God, I don’t remember reading that they ever completely changed. Therefore, I learn from here that this really depends on your personal relationship with God and your own decision of making the right decisions.

Our week:
Kana shared how her house church did a potluck, they all cooked something so there was a lot of food. They also all invited some people but the people they invited were unable to come. Therefore, they are planning to have the potluck some time again either this week or next week.

Yesterday, we were unable to hold the Bible reading because there was a misunderstanding about bringing the car to the dealership and I wasn’t aware that I was supposed to bring it. I also shared how I bought my ingredients for the food that I’m planning to make for the potluck.

歴代誌下 35-36章

カナミは、なぜ善良な王でさえ最終的に間違った道を選んでしまうのか、という点に興味を持っていました。彼女は、この出来事から、神が自分に何をしてほしいのかを常に意識し、そこから逸脱しないようにすることを学んだと述べました。

私たちは二人でこのことについて話し合いましたが、私は、ヨシヤが多くのことを成し遂げた後、自分が何をすべきかを自分で決められると思い込み、ネコから「一歩下がれ」という神のメッセージを無視したのではないかと考えました。この場合、ヨシヤの心に神の言葉が完全に届いていなかったため、耳を傾けなかったか、あるいは彼のプライドが判断を鈍らせたかのどちらかだと思います。ここから、「人間は単なる器に過ぎない」という言葉の意味が分かります。さらに、36章から、自分が進む道は実際には自分自身にかかっているということを学びました。善良な王たちが民を神に導こうとどれほど努力しても、彼らが完全に変わったという記述は読んだ記憶がありません。ですから、ここから私が学んだのは、これは本当に神との個人的な関係、そして正しい決断を下すというあなた自身の決断にかかっているということです。

今週の出来事：
カナは、彼女の家の教会でポットラックパーティーをしたときのことを共有しました。皆が料理をしたので、たくさんの食べ物がありました。皆が何人か人を招待しましたが、招待した人が来られなかったのです。そこで、今週か来週にもう一度ポットラックパーティーを開く予定です。

昨日は、ディーラーに車を持っていくことについて誤解があり、私が車を持っていくべきだと知らなかったため、聖書朗読会を行うことができませんでした。また、ポットラックパーティーで作る予定の料理の材料をどのように購入したかについても共有しました。

午後7時半から始まり、歴代誌下３３章と３４章を読みました。参加者はひより、えみり、あかり、せいゆでした。テモテとトマスは今日は参加しませんでした。

ひよりは、ヨシヤが神の前に謙遜であったこと、だからこそ前任者たちとは違って良い王であったことを学びました。彼女はジュニアグループとギターの練習をしたことを話しました。えみりは、ヨシヤ王が他の王たちと違って神に献身していたことを知りました。彼女は一日中宿題に取り組んだことを話しました。
あかりは、ヨシヤが神の言葉を真剣に受け止めたから救われたのだと学びました。今週の出来事として、彼女はニードルタティングというレース編みの技法を学んだことを話しました。私は、今日の章で見られたように、神の言葉には力があり、人の心を変える力があることを話しました。また、今日体育館でバスケットボールをしたことも話しました。

We started at 7:30 pm and read 2 Chronicles 33 and 34. The participants were Hiyori, Emiri, Akari, and Seiyu. Timothy and Tomas didn’t join today.

Hiyori learned that Josiah humbled himself before God, which is why he was a good king unlike his predecessors. She shared that she practiced guitar with the junior group. Emiri learned that King Josiah was different from the other kings because he devoted himself to God. She shared that she worked on her homework throughout the day.
Akari learned about the importance of taking God’s word seriously, as Josiah was saved because he took God’s word seriously. Regarding her week, she shared that she did needle tatting, which is a type of lace making technique. I shared that God’s word is powerful and has the ability to change people’s hearts, just as it did in today’s chapters. I also shared that I played basketball at the gym today.

午後7時半に始まり、歴代誌下32章を読みました。参加者はひより、あかり、えみり、そして誠優でした。テモテとトマスは今日は参加しませんでした。

ひよりは、どんな言葉を受け入れるかは自分次第であることを学びました。また、良心の声に耳を傾けることの大切さも学びました。彼女は毎日ギターを練習し、期末試験に向けて勉強していることを話してくれました。
あかりは、神を信頼すること、そして神だけが問題を解決できることを学びました。彼女は、多くの人がセラピストに頼って問題を解決しようとしますが、セラピストは真の解決にはならないことを話しました。今週の出来事としては、1学期にわたるグループプロジェクトを終えたことについて話してくれました。
えみりは、クリスチャンとして自分の信念に反する人々が必ず存在し、そのような人々に信念を変えるよう強制することはできないことを学びました。しかし、彼らのために祈ることはできるのです。彼女は、今週の授業で南北戦争について学んだことを話してくれました。
教会やキリスト教コミュニティに参加することは良いことだと学びました。それは、32章の人々のように、他の人を励ますことができるからです。私は日本語の授業で、韓国、インド、ベトナムの文化と日本の文化を比較対照するグループプレゼンテーションをしたことを話しました。

Hiyori learned that it is up to you what kind of words you choose to accept. She also learned about the importance of listening to your conscience. She shared that she practiced guitar every day and that she is studying for her final exams.
Akari learned about trusting God and that only God can solve your problems. She shared that most people rely on therapists to solve their problems, but they can never truly solve them. Regarding her week, she shared that she finished a semester-long group project.
Emiri learned that there will always be people who go against your beliefs as a Christian and that you can’t force those people to change their beliefs. However, you can pray for them. She shared that she learned about the Civil War in class this week.
I learned that it is a good thing to be in a church or Christian community because you get to encourage others, just like the people did in chapter 32. I shared that I had a group presentation in my Japanese class about comparing and contrasting Korean, Indian, and Vietnamese culture with Japanese culture.
